i forgot to mention that i "finally" got my real wedding ring. incidentally, it was ready for pickup on thursday, which was also our 2-month "anniversary" of the wedding.
ta-a! my bling! (how girly am i? hahaha) it changes depending on the light - most of the time it looks like silver and very pale colours, other times like in this picture. anyways. wee. now we just have to get our rings engraved. and remember to go by the swedish tax office to get our marriage properly registered in sweden. hrm. hehe. :)
eloping to new york to get married was really fun, but planning it in the midst of buying the summer house was a bit tricky. not to mention all the concerts/travelling we did in july/august, when we first started seriously considering eloping. for instance, my wedding dress was done in two and a half weeks by a really great seamstress who was the only one to answer my emergency e-mail sent out to a bunch of seamstresses in stockholm that i googled up. it was finished the day before we left for new york, after one initial meeting and two fittings. she really rocked. :)
unfortunately, we did not have enough time to get my finished ring before leaving, so we bought a blank ring from the goldsmith (same ring like what i now have, just pre-bling) and brought with us for the actual ceremony. that way we could take our time figuring out exactly how the finished ring should look once the trip was over with.
well, 4 visits at the goldsmith later, this is it. love it! i don't wear much jewellery (mostly just a necklace) and rarely rings, so it was really hard figuring out something i could see myself wearing permanently. i've never been much into diamonds, so this is what we came up with - white gold with 7 purty saphires.
i found something similar online and brought to the goldsmith so he'd know what we were into, but even so it was really tricky getting saphires with just the right, different shades of colours. it was great fun, though. this last version marp and i got to put together ourselves, picking stones with tweezers and organizing in just the right order. it feels really awesome to have gotten to design it ourselves, and the colours just make me go kooky every time i see them sparkle as the light catches the bling.
(you know, i've never been into weddings much, which i think eloping to do it tiny-style might show, so it really amuses me how gushy my own have made me since. go figure. yey weddings! fun stuff.)
