marching orders

like i suspected now that this short-term project ends today, i've now been assigned to another short-term project by my old boss that will require me going back to that tiny tiny town north of stockholm. the project will last throughout june, and i've been ask to run the project as a teamleader. :o haha.

i get training tomorrow afternoon but won't be shipped up there until wednesday next week, and cassandra has been assigned to go up with me so i have company. this is especially good to know since i've heard the rest of the dorm we were living at will probably be filled with lumberjacks, hahaha.

so, it's just for june and it's a very simple project although i have to be in el charge-o and i'll have to spend most of the time up theeere, and work hours are noon - 9 p.m. (but with nothing to do in the evenings, i don't really care) but the surroundings will be gorgeous now that the massive snow is gone and everything is greeeen.

i've now decided to use 4 of my paid weeks of vacation this summer rather than the 3 i originally had planned. i get a total of 5 paid weeks a year, and i'm saving one week as i hope to go see moonriddengirl late fall (hope hope). i was going to save another week for even later but... neh. 4 weeks off in a row could be sort of gold, y'know. i think i might do that.

alright. well, at least i know what i'll be doing in june!

that sounds like it should be very good experience for you.

somabish: :)

thank you! i hope so - mainly, i'll just have to coordinate so we have enough ppl logging hours to finish the project within the month, and that those people do their job so that they earn their hours. i'll be working alongside everybody so it doesn't have all that many perks, haha, but it's good to be able to put a second project as a teamleader on my resume, even if they've both been short term.

I'm glad it will be pretty. And I do hope we get one of your weeks. (Or part of it; I understand you'll have other things you want to do in the U.S.)

well, i hope to add a couple of more days to that one week to extend it, so we should get mostly a week i'm sure - apart from going by nccu, i only need to figure out where gene will be at to see if it's possible to swing by his place as well (and i need to say hello to leah). i so hope i can go, too. :)

somabish: :) thanks!

if you work a full year (and the timing is right), you earn a maximum of 25 paid days a year, which, discounting saturdays/sundays is approx. 5 weeks. :) i've never had the full deal before and really feel like 4 weeks in a row would rock, and then a spare week later in the fall just in case...

(sweden's got a lot of pretty nice things, like you can take a 18 months off if you have a kid where you get something like 80% of your pay or something for most of that time, and you can split those months with your partner. you also get close to $150/month per child in aid from the government until they're 18, as well as free dental care for the kids until then, and whatnot.)
