i had a pretty good time yesterday, and lucky for me, it didn't cost an arm and a leg!
first i had a weird afternoon where people kept calling me - it was really funny. gabi had just gotten home and suddenly the phones started ringing - it was as if my parents, friends and just plain acquaintances had all entered a "let's call jennie" pact. first the regular phone would ring. i'd chit-chat, hang up, talk a few minutes with gabi and then my cellphone would go off in another room... i'd chit-chat a few minutes and then hang up, and 5 minutes later the regular phone would ring and it'd be for me again. etc. gabi just stared, hahaha. it was so weird.
then i dyed my hair red again, which is always a fab thrill (and cheap since i bought the dye almost a year ago on a sale so i can do it whenever i feel like it, haha). then i met up with a friend and saw a free (yey, FREE!) show with swedish stand up comedian/playwright/author jonas gardell (you may recall him blowing me a smooch in the wind during the pride parade last week, yey!). there were tons of people so i was pretty far off but had a great view for most of the show and it was both fun and a bit touching, and he sang a few songs.
after that we went to have something to eat (mmm, pizza!) and then it was off to catch the dears. while waiting for the show, i had probably the worst midori sour ever made - i really need to learn to never, ever order midori sours in sweden because nobody can make them! this one was pretty much a thimble of midori on the bottom and then the rest was ice and what can only be described as pure lemon juice. it was indeed, eh, sour. so gross. frrrr! i give up.
and then the show started and i forgot all about the midori sour, haha. it was a pretty good show - it started off a bit uneven, there seemed to be a problem with the sound, but halfway through they really started to get into it all and it just got really good. there was no inbetween banter, which primachi tells me is normal for the band, so the set just flew by really quickly.
i snagged a setlist and they mostly played songs from their upcoming album, but like i said - it was good, and they came back and did "postcard from purgatory" as an encore (figured this out thanks to primachi, haha, since it wasn't on the setlist) which was really long and the singer wore a... uh.. special hat, haha. anyway. definitely good.
on my way home on the subway i had to listen to some kids discussing the existence of sidesaddles and what the deal with them was. lots of demonstrating of how riding using a sidesaddle would be done, and even more bullshitting on the origin and reasoning behind it. seriously, it went on for like 15 minutes. heh.
and now i've spent most of the night catching up on, eh, e-mails and thingies. and am currently watching the most gorgeous, bright sunrise outside my window. i love the view from my window. in the mornings i see the sunrise, at night i see the moon. fab. i'm sure i'll go to sleep sometime within the next few hours. i guess i'm desperately trying to prolong my summer holiday since i have to go to work tomorrow. moo.
luckily i was going to meet up with someone today but managed to talk them out of it in a way that made sure it didn't seem like i was purposely avoiding it. obviously i don't meant this to mean i don't enjoy the person's company - i'm in a weird mood when it comes to people right now, heh. i'm spending a lot of time reading and listening to tori amos' little earthquakes the way i do every august. it's now a decade-long tradition. :)
(honestly, i do listen mostly to non-tori music, it's just that when the mood strikes, i listen to a lot of tori, which explains why no other artist is even close to usurping her on my last.fm profile. it's sad, really, hahaha.)
ok, random, i know, but check out my bed. that's what sleeping with _8_ pillows actually looks like, hahaha. i've basically turned my bed into a really soft, large couch. :D
jonas gardell first came on stage dressed like a sour lady :D
..then he was just jonas.. :)
murray in his flyyyyy hat, hahaha!
have a good day! i'm going to bed. hehe. there are birds out there that sound a lot like angry dolphins. so strange. :)
