ughhh, haha. i was in an excellent mood this morning. and then i came in to work, and found that 4 kids had called in sick, and a 5th was deliberately staying away without permission.
so, i had to force the 5th person to come in (i'm glad i managed this, heh - she claimed she wasn't able to call and talk to me on the phone, yet held a conversation with me through TEXT MESSAGES... hello?!) and inform her that she wasn't welcome back on my team. of course, i brought somebody from personnel along and in the end the girl is going back to her old job with our company. good riddance, says i.
but! there are bright spots to the day as well. i just got tickets to go see richard III (staged in swedish, of course) on thursday, and it seems like it's going to be a really fun time - the article i read announcing it claims they use modern music cues, including nine inch nails. the actor is also going to be interesting to watch - he's the guy the picked to do the swedish voice on the lionking, performing the voice to "scar" which was done by jeremy irons in the original version. should be gooooood, WEE!
and also, i started a new book. last week i read ghost story by toby litt - it took me quite a while to get into, and occasionally lost me a bit, but it really grabbed me toward the last third and was very, very sad. so, i decided a change in pace was in order and brought the gun seller by hugh laurie along for today's commute, and it had me giggling loudly the entire way in to work.
i'm enjoying it mostly for all the really funny little side-bits. this had me giggling, for instance:
She turned towards me and narrowed her eyes. If you know what I mean by that. Narrowed them horizontally, not vertically. I suppose one could say she shortened her eyes, but nobody ever does.
She narrowed her eyes.
just silliness. and now i'm off to lunch, and to read. ciao!
