friday friday friday

haha, this day is FLYING by - lots of changes in our project has made the whole week mad, and i've been quite overwhelmed, but somehow the fact that it's friday and therefore there's an end in sight makes everything... better.

i went and saw the swedish staging of richard III last night. it was pretty good - on a scale from 1-5 i'd give it a 3,5, which is.. pretty good. it had maybe 4-5 moments that REALLY stuck out and was great, though. and coolest of all, ALL the music cues were music by nine inch nails.

mainly they used little instrumental bits from the fragile, which was great to hear. the whole thing opened with the crowning of king edward set to the really loud intro from "somewhat damaged" and it was just sooo cool, and also stuff from "the frail" and other instrumental cues.

i also loved the set, and the costumes (leather coats in various forms - the royalty had longer coats that kind of mimicked gothy capes). richard III looked a bit like old-school trent with a kinky black glove and whatnot. the actor looks more like iggy pop, though, so it really made for great visuals. i didn't bring my camera because, i don't know, i just don't feel i should photograph plays. it's a whole other thing than concerts.

but i found some cool photo's of the play here to give you an idea (click to enlarge thumbnails - still not large photo's, but whatever). my favourite visuals include the crowning of richard III where the actor slowly and pompously walked across a long table with his long cape draging behind. here's another cool shot using the long cape.

also, the poster is really cool. :)

ok. back to the madhouse!

thebunnybin: Haha!

I thought you might be happy. :D

And I didn't mean to be all uberdramatic with separating out the time and date from the name. I cut and pasted the time and venue, and for some reason after I pasted it wouldn't let me type.

And how coincidental that it should be appropriate for me to make those previous comments today. :)

It sounds like a really cool show.
