and here's what you need to know: i've hated juliette lewis for more than a decade. no, not disliked - i've actually spent moments of my life going "omg NOOOO, FUCKING JULIETTE LEWIS!!" ...it probably started with her "acting" in cape fear and then continued right on. she's pretty much the only one i'd ever think of when thinking "who in movies do you hate." ...i've only tolerated her in the other sister (because giovanni ribisi is so cute in it) and in strange days (because she actually did a wicked good couple of pj harvey covers).. other than that.. haaaate.
of course, when i found out she was indeed a junkie during many of those movies, it all made sense and i went from hating her to just.. actively forgetting her. until i heard she had a band. and instantly, i loved the idea. because while she's ridiculously one-note in most her movies, i could see her being a power-house of theatrics on a stage with a band. i guess strange days showed me that. so tonight, i went to see her and...
DUUUUDE. i now have the biggest juliette lewis crush. may she stay off the screen and on the stage for a long time to come so i can keep this newfound juliette love. she's so, so hot on stage. and i'm not just saying that because i've had her gyrating her crotch at me from approximately a foot away, hahaha (no, she totally did, for like a minute - 's what i get for getting a spot right by the only slightly elevated stage) nor because i've had her fling her sweaty hair in my freakin' face. but it didn't hurt. hahahaha.
the band was really cute - they reminded me of the band in almost famous, and they all had great energy on stage, with lots of smiles and interplay that showed how much they enjoy what they do. except the one dude that was right in front of me - when the band appeared shirtless for the encores, it was kind of weird having a half-naked dude occasionally stroll up and pose a foot from my face. like, hello naked dude. please take a step back? :)
seriously.. i can't believe i end up with ANY pictures even remotely possible to show people with my camera. it's so, so not made for concert conditions. i spend every concert going through every possible mode i can think of, hoping to find one that magically gives me non-noisy, not-blurry pictures... i'm thinking that mode is called "retire this camera and buy a new one" but... it has been through a lot, so i'm happy to have it. :)
ok. here we go - juliette!

this photo is here only to indicate that indeed, she got obscenely close to where i was, and repeatedly so. this is taken without zoom, and it's taken moments BEFORE she stood in front of me because at times she actually stood so close my camera couldn't fit more than, like, part of her, in a photo, hahaha. but i'm not complaining. it was totally hot. :D

look, i even tried fucking sepia mode for one photo! bwa ha ha!

and i tried using a flash. yo, i've never used a flash on purpose during a concert before. i felt like an ass, but it did kind of work...

juliette is BENDY! :D
ok! time for sleep, and when i wake up: HALLOWEEN! i'm gonna wear the black horns to work. happy halloween! :D
