today sucked in that special way that only a day where everything goes wrong at work can suck. whatever. it'll pass.
yesterday was definitely better. marp and i spent our 8th month anniversary of official co-nerdship at a gwen stefani concert.
i've never gone to this sort of concert before. to me, a concert means lining up for hours to ensure a good spot front row and center, and then going so delirious from a good show and the intense crowd that i look like i've spent the past two hours in a shower popping crystal meth. trying out a cute, huge pop concert, complete with loads of costume changes and backup dancers, and with a polite crowd that certainly wasn't trying to break my ribs was... very different.
gwen was lovely. apart from a few boring filler songs, it was hugely entertaining singing along to her solo-hits (i really got a kick out of screaming "this shit is bananas! B-A-N-A-N-A-S!" with 10,000+ people). gwen looked radiant and did her best to entertain the crowd, danced loads, and wore pretty pretty costumes.
the coolest part was when she asked the pit crowd to split into two halves, and then ran out into the created path and jumped up into the far back bleachers and did a song for the audience way in the back. mind you, it wasn't like she was in one spot either, she totally climbed the rails and wandered around and up and down the stairs in the aisles, really covering the whole area and making sure most fans got a somewhat close look. very, very cool.
best songs she performed: hollaback girl, what u waitin' for, cool, early winter
worst: some horrible song called yummie where she dressed like a cooky chef. eeeeh...
i snapped loads of pictures, and most turned out surprisingly good. here are 20. yes, 20. considering i took 202 pictures, that's just 10%, hehe. they're pretty large, and all are in sepia, so i've hidden them behind a cut in case you feel like taking a peek.
